I remember these being strong, but not necessarily very peppery. But that's how it starts off being delivered in this double robusto format! Upon closer examination of the cap, there appears to be a quadruple application, unlike anything I've noticed before on a cigar...simply flawless.
At the first inch in, there is a very smooth and balanced flavor vs. strength and an interesting aroma is passed onto the fingers as well as in the air after each puff. The core here is deep, toasty, woody flavors with some chocolate punching in and out, making it somewhat complex.
It becomes slight bitter at the last two inches but a purge fixes the trauma, and no deal breaker ensues...the bitterness is much like a bitter dark chocolate, not a sour shit stick. While not as flavorful as the lancero Serie V, it is a good smoke nonetheless.
Not a nubber but a low 8 out of 10, a really good cigar if you're looking for strength and flavor without any harshness. It does give a nicotine kick if you're not ready, so prepare with a meal. Like the Serie O, this will be a permanent part of my rotation. I'm very excited for the 2010 maduro due out any time now.
